MSU Writing MOOC

A high school or college student nervous about college-level writing? Working but want to improve your writing for professional development? Need a course that will earn university credit? Need to improve your writing in English? Want to hang out with a bunch of other writers?

These are all good reasons to sign up for the MSU Writing MOOC. Our MOOC will make you more confident and prepared for future writing success. We will provide you with an opportunity to practice your writing skills, and through processes of feedback and revision, help you learn to think like a writer.
The goal of our experience is to provide you with opportunities to practice your writing while being guided by expert teachers and informed peers.

You will:

  • revise how you think
  • revise how you understand yourself as a writer
  • revise and improve how you write.

There are “four pathways” through the experience:

  1. A free experience.
  2. A certificate option for those who would like evidence of participation ($49).
  3. A credit option for those not enrolled as Michigan State University students (tuition fee). Students in this pathway will receive feedback from instructors as well as their peers and will have their writing graded.
  4. A credit option for current Michigan State University students (tuition fee). Students in this pathway will receive feedback from instructors as well as their peers and will have their writing graded.

Faculty: The experience will be led by Jeff Grabill, Julie Lindquist, Kristen Heine, Kate Fedewa, and Jennifer Royston from Michigan State University’s award winning writing program.

Start Date: June 23, 2014

Duration: 8 weeks
